HomesCOOL Science Days

It’s a new school year and the education team at Adventure Science Center is ready to get your students excited about science! Home school families are invited to participate in a new schedule of educational and engaging programs to round out the home school science program. With the new Space Chase wing and Sudekum Planetarium now open, there are twice as many reasons to visit and explore!

Here's the scoop!

  • Four days with four special science themes geared for students in grades 1-8.
  • Program choices are posted on this website six weeks before the actual date. Families may register online after this date. You will have a five-week window to register.
  • Online registration is available with credit card payment.
  • Programs are scheduled to start at 1 pm and may continue to 4 pm.
  • Special discounted pricing saves your family money and provides unique experiences not available to the general public or with membership.
  • Registration fees may be paid in advance online so that check-in is quickly processed.
  • Exploration in the science center is included in the entry fee. (This offer excludes planetarium shows and Blue Max tickets)
  • Students that attend all HomesCool dates become ASC Science Scholars and receive a certificate and a special prize!
  • A planetarium program will be included in at least two HomesCool dates during the school year.
  • HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND THE HOME SCHOOL PROGRAMS?

    Payment in advance is required to attend the HomesCool programs. These events provide all participants with unique programs and opportunities not generally offered to the public visitor or to our membership. Many of the HomesCool programs are specially developed by our educators or are only available to school groups. Public planetarium programs and Blue Max tickets are not included with general admission or home school events.

    Members (Adults and students): $10 per person
    Non-Members (Adults and students): $12 per person

  • WHAT IF WE HAVE CHILDREN AND/OR ADULTS THAT WILL NOT ATTEND HOME SCHOOL PROGRAMS? If you want to visit that day and some of your party will not go into programs, you will pay for them separately upon entry. Anyone entering the Center either pays general admission, pays the member or non-member home school rate in advance, or enters as a visiting member. Public planetarium programs and Blue Max tickets are not included with general admission or home school events.
  • CAN AN ADULT SIT IN A CLASSROOM AND NOT PARTICIPATE? Seating is reserved for paying participants whether they are adults or children. We encourage parents to attend with their children so that they may learn along with their students. We realize it is sometimes difficult because there may be younger children in the family. Parents of older children have the option of letting children in 3rd and above go to a program alone while the parent stays in the exhibit spaces with children that may be too young for the programs. All children are expected to follow the behavior policy of ASC.
  • WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT? As a verification of payment, please bring a copy of your online receipt. Students and adults that have paid in advance for the HomesCool programs enter in the Pre-Paid Line and pick up their bracelets and programs, then proceed to the sessions for which they are scheduled. Any adults and students that are not attending home school programs enter through the second Payment Line and pay either general admission rates or show a membership card. Public planetarium programs and Blue Max tickets are not included with general admission or home school events.
  • DISCLAIMERS AND BEHAVIOR POLICY
    • Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in the removal of a student from the session. No refund will be given.
    • Children in 3rd grade and above may attend a session without a parent.
    • During online registration, you will know what programs you have registered for and can cancel before the final payment process ends. No discounts or refunds are given if you choose to attend fewer programs.
    • Online and mail-in registration closes one week before the date of the event.
    • Parents/chaperones must always be present in the Center during sessions and must pay applicable admission rates as members/non-members. Students may not be dropped off at ASC for sessions. Students are not allowed to be unsupervised on the exhibit floor at any time.
    • Each participant will receive a paper wristband and must keep the same bracelet on for all sessions. Students must be in age-appropriate sessions.
    • Only Adventure Science Center memberships qualify for the discounted rate. Reciprocal memberships from other institutions do not apply. Coupons and special discounts do not apply to home school sessions.
    • Fees are not transferable to other dates.
    • Members must meet the requirements outlined in membership including showing photo id upon entry and carrying a membership card.
